We Welcome You to the Parkinson's Support Groups

Hello and greetings from the Parkinson's Support Group.

You, a friend or someone in your family may have been diagnosed with Parkinson's. So we urge you to join a Parkinson's Support Group now.  We are the facilitators of the Parkinson's Support Groups in Columbia and the Lake of the Ozarks.

Getting Connected

We Welcome You to the Parkinson's Support Groups

After 27 years of  living with Parkinson's, we know how important it is to be part of such a group, to learn more about the disease itself, to hear speakers each month and to socially interact.  And caregivers need the support

of others they can call on for advice.  Support groups do just that, they are here to help educate you, offer resources and special social opportunities to make the journey easier.  You have others to socialize with and connect with.

And we're affiliated with the national Parkinson's organizations.  We can help you find resources online

through them or from our own own literature table at our meetings. We're a diverse group with

one thing in common - Parkinson's.

Getting Connected

By contacting us now, you will begin receiving monthly flyers and emails announcing our monthly meetings or monthly ZOOMs and also other educational or social activities:

  • Monthly coffees for free-ranging discussion

  • Music in Me" Parkinson's Singers for voice

  • Caregiver's "Take-a-Break" sessions where we offer support through open discussion, social events, speakers and tours -and just plain fun

  • Small-group sessions for those diagnosed with dementia and their caregivers

  • Breakout Sessions where those with Parkinson's meet in one room and caregivers in the other, we can talk openly and exchange information

  • And other special opportunities meant to further help you cope with this diagnosis, such as the Parkinson's Voice Project/Loud Crowd speech therapy, Rock Steady Boxing and physical therapy

  • We also work with the University of Missouri neurology department in hosting the annual MU Parkinson's Conference each year.  That is an event you should not miss!

  • Please contact us and join others in this journey.  Parkinson's is a complex disease and we need all the help we can get--together.  You can be as active as you wish.  It is just so much better to know you're not alone!

If you have been diagnosed with Parkinson's, we can help.
